Edge Tape

Table tennis edge tape — protective tape for the exposed rim of a blade and the edge of the rubber.

This is the cheapest insurance in the shop. An unprotected blade edge chips against the table, the floor and whatever else is in the bag, and a chipped edge cannot be repaired — it is permanent damage to the most expensive part of the racket. Tape also stops the rubber edge lifting, which is where a sheet usually starts to peel.

Sold by width to match blade thickness and by length to cover one racket or several. Fit it when you glue new rubbers, and keep the racket in a case as well.
