Table tennis shoes — indoor court shoes built for the movement the sport actually asks for.
Table tennis is played in short lateral steps and sudden stops rather than in a straight line, so a table tennis shoe is light, low to the ground and built around a gum or non-marking sole that grips an indoor floor without leaving a mark on it. A running shoe does the opposite: it is cushioned for forward travel and its raised heel works against the low, balanced stance the sport needs.
Fit them as you would any court shoe — snug enough that the foot does not slide on a sideways push, with the socks you will actually play in.
