Palio Blades

Palio table tennis blades — mostly carbon composites, from allround to OFF+, each offered with a flared or a penhold handle.

Carbon at the price of wood is the reason to look here. Six of the eight carry carbon layers and the B11 an aramid one; only the B21 is all wood. A fibre layer stiffens the blade and enlarges the sweet spot, which adds speed and keeps fast exchanges on the table, at some cost in feel. Weight differs more than the prices do: the CAT, on a balsa core, is under 70 g, while the TNT-1 is about 90 g.

Palio states a class for every blade. The R57, KA and CAT are allround, the B11 allround-plus, the TNT-1, C-2 and B21 offensive, and the C87 OFF+. That class, with the build and the weight, is what our blade selection guide uses to place them beside the other brands. Palio’s own speed and control figures are on two scales — some blades are rated out of about 10, others out of about 100 — so read them only against a blade rated the same way.

Choose the handle on the product page: flared for the shakehand grip, penhold for the penhold grip. A blade needs two rubbers before it is a racket.
