The families mark out different intentions, not a good-better-best ladder, so start by picking the intention. Bluefire and Bluestorm are the high-tension offensive sheets built for speed and spin; Acuda sits on a softer, more controllable footing; Baracuda is the grippier, spin-first surface favoured by looping and topspin play. Within a family the number or suffix grades the sponge, so sheets from the same family share a character and differ mainly in hardness.
A rubber is the sheet that glues onto a blade and provides the playing surface. It's a wearing part — grip falls away with use, so budget for replacing sheets periodically — and it's sold as a single sheet, so a full racket needs two. Go thinner for control and touch, thicker if you want the sponge to store more energy.

Vario Soft is the pioneering rubber of the soft-rubber generation. It is absolutely identical to the regular version of Vario, but the sponge is softer. The result is better control, somewhat less speed, and identical spin characteristics.
