All-Wood Blades

All-wood table tennis blades — frames built from wood veneers alone, with no carbon or synthetic fibre layer.

Wood flexes, and that flex is the point. An all-wood blade holds the ball fractionally longer and transmits more of what happens at the contact point back to your hand, which is what makes it the usual recommendation while a stroke is still being built — you can feel what you did. It is slower than a comparable composite blade, and that is a fair trade for control rather than a shortcoming.

Number of plies and the woods used set the character: more plies and harder outer veneers give a firmer, faster response. Every blade still needs two rubbers before it is a racket.

Thanks to the especially thin, 5-ply structure, the VICTAS material experts succeeded in reducing the overall weight of the Koji Matsushita Defensive to just 85g, giving the blade outstanding balance and lightness.

The Silver Heart outer ply absorbs the speed of offensive balls providing you with great feel and ball control. All blades of the VICTAS Koji Matsushita series are hand-made in the VICTAS Japanese blade workshop.
