Donic Blades

DONIC WORLD CHAMPION 89 – the champions´ blade series, and top workmanship made in Germany! Its three blades are dedicated to the Swedish legends Jan-Ove Waldner, Jörgen Persson and Michael Appelgren.

They are produced exclusively for DONIC in Germany – where the golden era of the Swedish team began in 1989, when they secured a historic 5–0 win in the final against China at the World Championships in Dortmund. Experts make these blades with maximum precision and cutting-edge technology, a fitting reflection of how the three Swedish legends played.

This one is for offensive players looking for a high level of control. Fast, excellent feel, controlled.

Technology: 7 plies made of kiri (core ply), carbon fleece Zylon (2+4), spruce (3+5) and spruce (1+7, outer ply).

• Elasticity: stiff

Working closely with the Mozart of table tennis, DONIC has developed an even faster version of the WALDNER CARBON blade: a lightweight carbon blade with a great feel. Its inner and outer veneers have different levels of hardness, which gives this blade a very special feel.

It is for offensive players that play a wide range of shots and power allround players. Hard, good feel, lightweight, controlled and dynamic.

Technology: 7 plies made of abachi (core ply), carbon (3+5), abachi (2+6) and limba (1+7, outer ply).

A precise attack: this blade is perfect for players who are actively attacking in a controlled manner and aim to dictate the game with accurate ball placement. Its veneer structure is identical to the WHIPER OUTER CARBON, except that in the INNER version the core layer of Kiri wood is covered by two layers of synthetic fibre, so the speed is lower and there is even more control.

WHIPER + DEFPLAY INNER·OUTER·CARBON is the latest DONIC innovation, a special synthetic fibre that opens fresh possibilities for various playing styles.

All three models are constructed using the same type of wood and feature two layers of Hyramid Carbon, yet each has distinct playing characteristics, because placing the synthetic fibre layers directly beneath the outer veneer significantly enhances the speed of the blade.

The size of the blade and the thickness of the inner veneer also contribute to the performance of the new DONIC DEFPLAY INNER CARBON defensive blade, a valuable addition for defensive players, who are frequently overlooked.

Technology: 7 layers of Kiri (inside), Ayous (2+6), Hyramid Carbon (3+5), Limba (1+7, outside)
Character: Super control, very sensitive, medium speed
Recommendation: For all-rounders who prefer the passive and active playing form

Characteristics: ALL+, OFF -
Elasticity: medium
Speed: medium
Control: medium
Veneer structure: Veneers with synthetic fiber
Layers: 5+2
Weight: 80-90g

DONIC WHIPER OUTER CARBON – uncompromisingly forward. Two layers of Hyramid Carbon positioned directly beneath the Limba outer veneers give this offensive blade an impressive dynamic. Combining enormous power with good control, it is sure to delight pro-active players who prefer an attacking style with pressure.

If you are an ambitious player with an attacking game who wants even better ball control, this is the new blade Zhang Jike recommends. The Chinese superstar runs a table tennis school in his home country and knows from experience that very fast blades are not for all players the best choice.

This is how the DONIC ZHANG JIKE NEW ERA was created. Its core is also made of Kiri wood and two layers of Ayous. But then comes a special feature: not the usual two, but three finely woven synthetic fibres give the ZHANG JIKE NEW ERA an even finer feel for the ball.

The outer veneers made of Limba, which is slightly softer than the Koto wood, as in the ZHANG JIKE ORIGINAL CARBON, further improve control. The result is a moderate offensive blade with the necessary power and very good control: DONIC ZHANG JIKE NEW ERA.

Technology: 7 layers of Kiri inner ply, 3+5 Ayous, 2+6 Trio UAC synthetic fibre, 1+7 (outer) Limba.
Character: Perfect balance between speed and control, excellent ball feedback gives a great feel for the ball. Recommendation: Modern all-round and offensive players who rely on a good balance between speed and control in both offensive and passive play.

This offensive blade uses the ply combination Zhang Jike played with during his active career. The Chinese World Champion and Olympic Champion worked closely with the DONIC development department, which implemented his specifications accurately: an inner ply of extremely light Kiri wood, wrapped in Ayous plies and two layers of Cured Aramid Carbon, with an outer veneer of two layers of hard African Koto wood.

The blade of the legend

Zhang Jike was extremely ambitious as a player and fine-tuned his technique to perfection, and he now does the same in material development. Under his supervision a dynamic offensive blade has been created that is a powerful weapon for ambitious players – a blade like the one with which Zhang Jike has won everything there is to win in the world of table tennis: DONIC ZHANG JIKE ORIGINAL CARBON.

Technology: 7 layers of Kiri inner ply, 3+5 Ayous, 2+6 Cured Aramid Carbon, 1+7 Koto. Character: Dynamic, powerful, sensitive touch when hitting the ball, great feedback.
Recommendation: For dynamic offensive players who like to play with powerful shots but expect good control.
