Table tennis rubbers — the sheet that glues onto a blade and provides the playing surface. A rubber is a wearing part: the topsheet loses grip with use, so sheets are replaced periodically while the blade underneath stays. They are sold as single sheets, so a full racket needs two, and the two sides do not have to match.
Surface type is the biggest single difference, and the types are not comparable with each other. Inverted (pimple-in) rubbers present a smooth face and are what most players use for spin and speed. Short pips point outward and are less affected by incoming spin, which suits hitting and blocking close to the table. Long pips return spin in ways an opponent has to read, and belong to a deliberately disruptive style rather than a beginner's racket.
Sponge hardness sets how much the sheet does for you. A softer sponge grips at lower speeds and is more forgiving; a harder sponge stores more energy but needs a full stroke to activate, so it rewards technique rather than supplying it. Hardness is stated in degrees, but each manufacturer measures on its own scale — compare figures within a brand rather than across brands.
Thickness is chosen per sheet, usually between about 1.5 mm and MAX, and sometimes OX, which means no sponge at all. Thinner favours control and touch; thicker stores more energy. If you are choosing by intent rather than by number, start from offensive, allround or defensive sheets and read the specifications from there. You will also want glue to fit them and cleaner to keep them.

The SPINPIPS D3 is the extremly soft defensive variant of the legendary SPINPIPS series. While the tried-and-tested pips-out rubber sheet enables defence strokes with heavy backspin, the extra-soft sponge absorbs much of the energy of your opponent's attacks, thus providing for maximum control. SPINPIPS D2 is an innovative development based on the legendary SPINPIPS D1. The pimple geometry which is slightly more direct compared to V > 01, as well as the maximum tension of the High Energy Tension rubber sheet of V > 01 Stiff provide for excellent energy transfer when the bat hits the ball, thus developing great speed. The open-pore, state-of-the-art 45° high-performance sponge which is slightly softer than in V > 01 provides for more control in your play (“Power & Balance concept”). With this new sponge / top rubber sheet combination, V > 01 Stiff enables extremely fast and spinny topspin strokes with an aggressive ball trajectory. Rubber is currently not in stock and cannot be ordered! The pimple structure / geometry of CURL P5V is similar to the very popular CURL P1V. Compared to other pips-out rubbers, CURL P5V has very hard pimples for maximum pressure. In blocking, flat bouncing of your blocks make it difficult for your opponents to play their next ball. Choppers also love CURL P5V for the excellent control and precision it offers.
Rubber is currently not in stock and cannot be ordered! CURL P3aV is a rubber with thin and slightly shorter long pimples. Both in close-to-the-table and in away-from-the-table situations, this rubber is made for safe and precise returning and placement. Just like CURL P1V, CURL P3aV is designed for dangerous spin variation.
