This is because the placement of the synthetic fibre layers directly beneath the outer veneer significantly enhances the speed of the blade. The size of the blade and the thickness of the inner veneer also contribute to the performance of the new DONIC DEFPLAY INNER CARBON defensive blade, making it a valuable addition for defensive players who are frequently overlooked.

This is how the DONIC ZHANG JIKE NEW ERA was created. Its core is also made of Kiri wood and two layers of Ayous. But then comes a special feature: not the usual two, but three finely woven synthetic fibres give the ZHANG JIKE NEW ERA an even finer feel for the ball. The outer veneers made of Limba, which is slightly softer than the Koto wood, as in the ZHANG JIKE ORIGINAL CARBON, further improve control. The result is a moderate offensive blade with the necessary power and very good control: DONIC ZHANG JIKE NEW ERA.

The blade of the legend

The ply combination of this offensive blade corresponds to the one Zhang Jike used during his active career. The Chinese World Champion and Olympic Champion worked closely with the DONIC development department, which accurately implemented his specifications: an inner ply made of extremely light Kiri wood, wrapped in Ayous plies and two layers of Cured Aramid Carbon. The outer veneer consists of two layers of hard African Koto wood. Zhang Jike was not only extremely ambitious as a player and fine-tuned his technique to perfection, but he is also now doing the same in material development. Under his supervision, a dynamic offensive blade has been created which is a powerful weapon for ambitious players. A blade like the one with which Zhang Jike has won everything what there is to win in the world of table tennis: DONIC ZHANG JIKE ORIGINAL CARBON.

JOOLA created the Rossi Emotion PBO-c blade based on the best-selling JOOLA Rossi Emotion, named after table tennis legend Jörg Rosskopf. He served as a consultant on the development of this blade and his wealth of knowledge was a key component in creating the final product.

While the original JOOLA Rossi Emotion utilizes a carbon core, the 7-ply JOOLA Rossi Emotion PBO-c uses layers of JOOLA PBO-c fiber on either side of the core, beneath the inner layers. This design creates added stiffness, resulting in significantly more speed. To reduce the added weight of the PBO-c, we replaced the Ayous veneers with Kiri, providing a light, more balanced blade. The high-quality, soft Hinoki outer veneers also create a softer touch, prolonging ball contact time for more control.
